International Journal of Intangible Heritage About

Minister's Greeting

Began its publication in 2006, the International Journal of Intangible Heritage (IJIH) has come to the stage of great celebrations for the achievements as of being accepted to the internationally renowned indexes such as A&HCI, IBSS and Scopus in recent two years. All the associates of the journal made sincere efforts to achieve the above mentioned goals set before and now eager to step forward to the more advanced stage dreaming to face the 10th anniversary of the publication in the year 2015.

It was at the 20th General Conference and the 21st General Assembly of the ICOM held in Seoul, 2004 when the idea of publishing the IJIH was formulated. At that time, a term ‘intangible heritage’ was recognized as quite a buzz word in the designated academic fields while simultaneously having a significant meaning as more and more concerns regarding preservation of intangible heritage were being brought up.

Hopefully, the initiation of the IJIH publication could offer prospective researchers and scholars a niche in the field of research related to all forms of intangible heritage. Acknowledging that the journal has officially been recognized and being supported by the ICOM, I sincerely wish that the IJIH serves as an essential and important medium for promoting, preserving, and transmitting ‘intangible heritage’ in the world.
